Chase Scene 3/6/2020
I just got done with the most recent video and that was a chase scene. No, I could not put in a sniper to make Nathan trip and fall on his face, unfortunately. The best part about this short is having the office aid as the "warden" and having Nathan get yanked by the neck. My only wish for this project is that the principal was there to grab Nathan just to add more humor into it. The worst part about this project is that we don't have the knowledge to do some special effects to make the scenes more interesting or to add more humor into it. Having music that fit the general theme of the video was not as hard as the horror film mainly because a spy/sneaky film has a faster pace music to it and can easily be looked up by searching for spy music. Most of the film is a loop, that should be obvious, so that multiple attempts can be shown without filming for the next week just to get a minute long video made. Let's all hope that Agent 612AB made it out a-okay and not with a bullet in the back of the head. Good luck Agent 612 you're going to need it.
Horror Film 2/27/2020
So the class just got done editing some film that was given to us by a film company and it was a horror film. The best part about it was that we didn't have to go out and get the film our selves and since it was given to us we didn't have to worry about copyright. The not so fun part was the amount of film that we had sift through to get the clips that we wanted. A lot of the clips had the director, Peter John Ross, talking during the clip so that was interesting trying to keep some of the sounds from the scene while cutting out the director's voice. Another part was the music and the volume where we had to find a fitting theme of music and making sure that certain scenes were at the correct volume and not too quiet or too loud. the worst part about it was the nit-picky things such as timing, making the runner look like she was running and not slow jogging, and creating the suspense need to portray a certain mood. Again some projects that are on the way are the second rocket video, the new series, and another project that Holt will have us do.
Short Story 2/6/2020
So the newest project was a short story that had zero voice over. Currently the other's are not done with their projects. The fun part was learning to use photo shop to get the statues and trying to find the right music to go with the video. We only had a week to do this project and we could not use a voice over which made it much more difficult. Another "fun" part was trying to come up with a story that was short and at least 30 seconds and could easily be done in a few days. My story is about a blacksmith who accidentally summoned four gold statues that make him disappear. The loud noise at the end is a spoiler to the video and is not real. The Blacksmith is still gone to this day and nobody knows where he is. Maybe he opened the door of truth and is living in another dimension. Either way he is still gone. Some up coming projects is what every Holt tells us to do, the second rocket video, and the "How it Really Happens" series.
PSA #2 1/29/2020
The second PSA is done and ready to view in a few more days. All the PSAs in the class were simple and informative. Most of them did need improvement but the will be easy to deal with. Some were in need of more help than others while some were more complicate. My PSA was the more difficult with me not being able to show animal brutality or anything that comprised of gruesome scenes and working with some interesting GoPro footage. No, cows really aren't beat up on farm the way PETA describe and putting cattle under to castrate is not very wise economically when you are dealking with hundreds of calves. So no animal cruelty does not happen on a farm. If you need more information on the agricultural laws in the USA the go to the US Department of Agriculture's website.
Liquid Fuel Rocket!! 1/21/2020
The first liquid fuel rocket video is finally out to view. The next thing to work on is that PSA that I talked about and produce the next rocket video.
2020!!
So it's the new year! Christmas was fun, got a few cool things but other than that it's been kind of boring. When we got back to school Mr. Holt had us mess with the programs that we learned how to use. I've start a new project on rockets and chemistry where I am making a rocket that will be liquid fuel powered. The first video is still in the editing phase, at the time that this is being written. The video should be out soon. Currently we are working on another PSA and that should be out in a few more days on the BBN TV channel.
PSA
So we just got done with our PSAs and the one that I did was on concealed carry. This took two days mainly because it was audio with a few stills. others did more complicate PSAs and were in groups. The bad part was getting people to help but that wasn't too hard. Again for this type of project simple is best. Yes, I do believe that carrying a gun is the best way to stop shooting even though people hate guns. I have not watched any of the other PSAs but they probably turn out great. Some of the others were about drunk driving and child abuse. This will be the last project of the semester then it is on to more complicated projects. One of the projects I am wanting to do is a rocket.
Christmas Video
We just got done with our Christmas videos and they were very short clips. This project took two days to completed and like with any other project the editing took the longest. Cody and did ours together and we use the green screen for the background. Having only a couple of days to complete the video, it had to a simple and short video. Though it was simple doing the green screen was the challenging part because green screens in our editing software is a very long process that should be able to be done with a hot-key shortcut. Though the green screen was complicated is was the biggest asset and it let us put a fun picture in the background.
Video commercial
The most recent project is a video commercial. The good thing is that we had more time to work on it. With more time to work we could do more advanced techniques to make the commercial have a better quality. As the week progressed each commercial slowly come together by each student. The difficult part was having to get material for the commercial especially if it had firearms or smoking. Jensyn, Adrian, and Nathan all worked together to create a smoking PSA which was filmed during class at one of their houses. My commercial had firearms in it and I live a ways out of town so all of my filming had to be done on the weekends. Of course after filming came the editing which was slow because I didn’t have all the clips until a few days before the due date. All in all the project turned out great.
The First Project
Mr. Holt told us that after each project we have to blog about it. So our first project was a radio commercial for anything that we wanted to advertised. Most of the commercials were fake and some of the commercials were a comedy. All the commercials turned out great. The annoying part was that the software didn’t do exactly what you wanted, such as it would put a cut in a clip that was not suppose to be cut or the syncing of the audio would screw up a clip. This project did take a week of hard work to complete and lots of gathering audio for the voice over and the sound effects. The part that took the longest is the editing of the audio and that is basically the whole part of the project besides the editing of the audio was interesting because all the crap hit the fan sometimes when clips would unsync and you would have to redo the audio for that clip or when trimming clips would trim other clips that didn’t need trimmed. Though we all worked hard there funny moments that gave us a break from the work. Some of those moments were listening to Nathan’s commercial and watching the pictures on Jensyn’s commercial. After the project Mr. Holt had take pictures for the BBNTV website. The picture was against a green screen so that a setting could be placed behind everyone. Some settings were Cody being in Moscow, Jensyn in front of a mansion, Susana in a graveyard, and Nathan in a jail cell.
